Citadelle des Morts Easter Egg Walkthrough
Following the events of the Terminus main story, Weaver, Maya, Carver, and Grey—along with Peck, Raptor One, and Strauss—have made their way to the Citadelle des Morts, one of Avalon's oldest landmarks. Unfortunately, the ancient castle is now the base of operations for the infamous French Syndicate, led by a mysterious man named Franco.
With intentions to team up with Gabriel Krafft, the group is seeking to learn more about the ancient relic known as the Sentinel Artifact. If history is correct, the group believes that the artifact could be a way to save Samantha Maxis from her aethereal imprisonment.
This Black Ops 6 Zombies guide provides a walkthrough of the steps needed to complete the main Citadelle des Morts Zombies Easter Egg and details on how to pack-a-punch and obtain all Wonder Weapon Swords and their Incantations, which are crucial weapons and items needed to solve this BO6 Zombies Easter Egg.

How to Pack a Punch in Citadelle des Morts
To Pack-a-Punch in Citadelle des Morts, you'll first want to open either the eastern or western gates in the Town Hall. It doesn't matter which, as you'll eventually need to unlock all paths to complete the Wonder Weapons and Citadelle des Morts Easter Egg.
If you plan on crafting the Fire Sword Wonder Weapon first, you may want to open the western gate first.
Once you reach the Courtyard, open the door west of the Entrance Hall and follow the path around the castle wall until you reach the cannon. Now is a good time to start training some Zombies, as you'll need some space to perform the next task.
When you've created space between you and any trailing Zombies, begin cranking the cannon until the rotation bar is filled. Much like the Water Valve on Liberty Falls, you may need to stop cranking to lure away any Zombies temporarily, but just be quick, as the cannon's rotation will retreat.
Once the cannon is rotated, interact with it to blast open the castle's main door.
advertisement
Now, follow the waypoint markers through the Entrance Hall, Dining Hall, and Dungeon until you reach the Dubliette Room. Here, you'll find a large blue shipping container near the center of the room.
On the door of the shipping container, you'll find three locks--break the locks by shooting them off. Upon breaking the locks, a Doppelghast will come crashing out of the container and charge toward you.
The Doppelghast is a powerful mini-boss, and we highly recommend keeping on the move, especially as the boss charges you. Using the pillars throughout the room can also be helpful to slow down the creature and create angles to shoot without the worry of taking damage.
Upon killing the Doppelghast, stand back and wait for it to explode. Pick up the Blood Aetherium Crystal that it drops on the ground, and then insert the crystal into the red portal inside the container to activate the Pack-a-Punch machine, which will now appear inside the container.
Speak to Krafft to Begin the Easter Egg
Once you have pack-a-punched your weapon, head to the Dungeon and look for the path that leads behind the Quick Revive machine.
advertisement
Here, you'll find a large wooden door; interact with it to reveal Krafft, who has been locked up. After speaking with Krafft for a few moments, you'll be tasked with obtaining your first step in the Easter Egg, obtaining the Bastard Sword.
How to Get the Bastard Sword
From round 10 onwards in Citadelle des Morts, you'll begin to encounter Zombies wearing knight-style helmets. These Zombies are immune to headshots, so aim for their bodies to take them down.
Now's a good time to work towards purchasing the likes of Juggernog and Stamin-Up, as they'll come in handy throughout this Easter Egg.
Once you've defeated one of these Zombies, it'll drop a glowing yellow key item known as a Stamp. Pick up the Stamp and return to the Dining Hall.
You can only have one Stamp in your inventory at any given time.
Here, you'll find four Knight statues standing in front of the balcony pillars in the courtyard. Now, each of the four Knights is different, each with a unique symbol on their upper chest or shoulder. If you're entering the Dining Hall from the Entrance Hall, you'll find the Stag Knight to the front left, the Dragon Knight in the front right, the Raven Knight to the back left, and the Lion Knight in the back right.
advertisement
When interacting with the statues while having a Stamp in your inventory, you'll receive a unique weapon, the Bastard Sword.
Depending on which Knight you interacted with, this sword can then be used to perform a set of specific steps to craft one of four Wonder Weapons on the Citadelle Des Morts map. These Wonder Weapons include:
- Dragon Knight = Caliburn: Dragon’s Fire
- Stag Knight = Durendal: Stag of the Storms
- Raven Knight = Balmung: Raven’s Shadow
- Lion Knight = Solais: Lion of Light
To obtain all four Swords, which are required for the Citadelle des Morts Easter Egg, you must find and collect a total of four Stamps.
How to Get All Wonder Weapon Swords and Incantations
Now that you know how to get the Bastard Sword, let's turn this sword into the four unique wonder weapon variants. Click the links below or continue scrolling to learn more about the required steps for each sword.
If you're playing with a group, we highly recommend that a team member train a group of Zombies at this point, as you'll want to begin limiting your round progression as much as possible.
How to Get the Caliburn Dragon's Fire Sword
advertisement
Once you've obtained a Stamp, head to the Dining Hall and interact with the Knight Statue, which features a dragon symbol on its chest.
If you enter from the Entrance Hall, this will be the front right Knight. Upon interacting with the Dragon Knight, a Bastard Sword will appear in its hands.
Pick up this sword, return to the Entrance Hall, and head to the second floor via the grand staircase in the middle of the room. At the top of the stairs, you'll find a large Dragon Statue along the wall.
Interact with the Dragon Statue, and watch as you place the sword into the pedestal. With the sword placed, you'll now need to find and interact with three flaming braziers, which are found in the Village Ramparts, Nature Path, and the Town Square.
- The Village Ramparts Brazier is located along the castle wall, just to the left of an Ammo box, and not too far from the Cannon you used to destroy the entrance to the castle.
- The Nature Path Brazier is located at the start of the area, next to the gate you unlock to access the Nature Path via the Town Square.
- The Town Square Braizer is located along a wall directly right of where you first spawn into the map. It's also located just a few meters from the Rampage Inducer.
advertisement
Once you've located a brazier, interact with it, which will see you entering a special mode where you are engulfed in Dragon Fire. While in this mode, you'll gain increased speed and must return and interact with the Dragon Statue in the Entrance Hall.
Unfortunately, returning to the Dragon Statue won't be easy, as while engulfed in flames, you'll begin to take rapid damage until you release the Dragon Fire into the Dragon Statue. So, the only way to remain alive during this will be to kill Zombies you encounter along the way back, as each melee kill will restore a small portion of your health.
Once you've successfully returned and released the Dragon Fire into the Dragon Statue, you'll need to repeat this step for the remaining two braziers.
When you've completed all three braziers and filled the Dragon Statue, watch as the Caliburn Wonder Weapon is created. You'll now be able to pick up this weapon from the pedestal.
Killing Zombies with the Caliburn will charge it, and once fully charged, press both Slash (R2) and Parry (L2) to unleash an immense fireball special attack.
How to Get the Fire Incantation
Once you have obtained the Caliburn Sword, you're going to want to ensure you either have three Molotovs, which can be crafted at workbenches, or you have a charged Caliburn Sword--the sword can be charged by killing Zombies. We recommend at least one or two Molotovs, but it ultimately comes down to personal preference.
Once you're ready, return to the Cannon on the castle wall. Here, you'll need to locate and light three bonfires using either the Caliburn Sword's special fireball attack or with Molotovs.
advertisement
The first bonfire can be found on the balcony directly above the entrance to the castle.
To find the second bonfire, look over the southeast edge of the castle wall, and you'll find the bonfire high up on the rock ledge above the Speed-Cola machine.
The third and final bonfire can be found on the roof above the Elemental Pop machine.
When lighting all three bonfires, a Doppelghast mini-boss will appear, and you'll need to take it down.
advertisement
Once defeated, pick up the glowing Ra's Ankh off the ground.
With Ra's Ankh in hand, head down into the Courtyard, and you'll find a glowing yellow circle on the ground near the Arsenal.
Now, interact with the circle and proceed to kill approximately 10 Zombies in the immediate area until a golden box rises out of the ground.
With the Caliburn Sword equipped, slash the golden box, and you'll receive the Fire Incantation.
How to Get the Solais Lion of Light Sword
Once you've unlocked the Pack-a-Punch machine and obtained a Stamp from a special Knight Zombie from round 10 onwards, it's time to get the Bastard Sword from the Lion Knight in the Dining Hall. If you've entered the Dining Hall from the Entrance Hall, the Lion Knight will be the next Knight on the right.
advertisement
It’s highly recommended that before beginning this next part, you have a weapon that doesn’t do explosive shots, which is most weapons – you’ll find out why in a minute.
When ready, interact with the Lion Knight and pick up the Bastard Sword. Upon doing so, four flying glowing parasites will spawn.
Don’t kill them; instead, leave the castle out of the main entrance with the glowing bugs in tow.
Now's a good time to train Zombies, as having just one Zombie up will make completing this step much easier.
After leaving the castle, head left through the Courtyard. After passing under the archway you’ll see a few houses in front of you with an alleyway in between them.
Head into the alley, and you'll spot a door with a lion's head knocker. Now it’s time to kill the glowing bugs. One by one, slash and kill a bug with the sword, which causes the sword to glow. While the sword is glowing, run over and slash the door. If done correctly, a glowing symbol will appear on the door.
Trying to kill zombies while doing this might accidentally kill the glowing bugs. Don’t worry, though; if they die without slashing them with the sword, they’ll respawn on the next round.
advertisement
Continue slashing the glowing bugs and door three more times until all four symbols appear. Once all four are there, interact with the knocker to enter a small room.
In here, kill the zombies and place the sword on the pedestal. The pedestal will glow with one of the four symbols. It will then burst the symbols onto the walls.
You need to shoot the symbol currently showing on the pedestal. If done correctly, the symbol will merge into the pedestal.
Things to note here is that you only have one minute to do this, if you fail, you’ll be kicked out and you’ll need to try again on the next round. The room can be hectic as zombies will keep spawning. You can kill them or try and run around them, but it’s a very tight space.
And finally, don’t use anything explosive here, and mind your shooting when killing the zombies. If you accidentally shoot the wrong symbol on the wall, the process will reset, wasting part of that short minute you have to complete this challenge.
Once you've shot all four symbols, you’ll be rewarded with the powered-up sun sword. And that’s it, you now have the Sun Sword Wonder Weapon! What you do with the sword is part of the larger easter egg, but for now, have fun giving zombies scorching burns with your powered-up energy slashes.

How to Get the Light Incantation
Now that you have completed the Solais Sword make your way back to the Dining Hall, where you'll find a small red-colored crystal directly north on the wall above the Vulture Aid Perk-a-Cola machine on the second floor.
Using any weapon, shoot at the crystal. It'll eventually change angles and shoot a light beam toward the south entrance of the Dining Hall.
Shoot the new crystal until it casts another light beam east.
Shoot this crystal, too; it'll cast a light beam to the next crystal inside the nearby Alchemical Lab.
After shooting this crystal, a beam will be cast to the nearby crystal on the southern wall.
Shoot this final crystal, which will cause a Paladin's Brooch to spawn on the table in the northeast corner--this is the table with the colored element symbols in front of it.
advertisement
Having picked up the Paladin's Brooch, head back into the Dining Hall, where you'll find a yellow glowing circle on the ground by the tiger mural.
Interact with the circle, and then proceed to kill approximately 10 Zombies in the immediate area until a golden chest rises out of the ground.
Using your Solais Sword, slash the box to unlock the Light Incantation.
How to Get the Balmung Raven's Shadow Sword
Once you've obtained a Stamp, head to the Dining Hall and interact with the Knight Statue that features a Raven on its shoulder.
If you enter from the Entrance Hall, this will be the back left Knight. Upon interacting with the Raven Knight, a Bastard Sword will appear in its hands. Pick up this sword and make your way into the nearby Alchemical Lab.
advertisement
Here, you'll need to pick up a unique Antiquity statue, which can be in the form of six potential items: a Horn, a Raven Skulls, a Rock Fish, a Rock Scorpion, a Jaw, and, as the community describes it, a Symboless Rock.
The locations of each of these items will differ depending on the item, and each item will always be random for every game. Known locations where these items can spawn include:
- On the shelf next to the Armor Wall Buy.
- On the shelf in the far back left corner.
- On the shelf right of the table that features colored elemental icons in front it.
- On the desk opposite the table that features colored elemental icons in front of it.
If you're struggling to find the item, it's worth noting that a small white dot will appear on it as you get close, indicating that it can be picked up.
advertisement
Once you've found the Antiquity, make your way to the Tavern Cellar, where you'll find a large circular puzzle device on the wall next to the Workbench.
During this particular step, you'll want to start training Zombies, as having just one alive will make completing the Raven Sword much easier.
Interact with the device to insert your Bastard Sword, then wait a moment and interact with it once more.
Doing so will see you entering an invulnerable state as you attempt to solve a tricky Zodiac puzzle. Now, depending on the item you received, the code to solve the Zodiac puzzle will be different.
To solve the Zodiac puzzle, you must align your object's corresponding Element and Zodiac Symbol with the arrow at the bottom of the puzzle. This means that the correct Element Triangle and Zodiac Symbol must be aligned at the bottom of the spin wheel.
Below are the code solutions needed to solve the Zodiac puzzle for the Raven Sword:
- Horn = 🜂 + ♈︎
- Raven Skull = 🜁 + ♊︎
- Rock Fish = 🜄 + ♓︎
- Rock Scorpion = 🜄 + ♏︎
- Jaw = 🜂 + ♌︎
- Symboless Rock = 🜁 + ♐︎
Special thanks to Reddit User ImEasterEgg for providing the combinations needed to solve each Antiquity item. Once you've got the correct code, submit it and watch as a purple portal spawns on the ground nearby.
Once the portal has spawned, purple orbs will begin to spawn from the puzzle device and will start to target you. You'll now want to lure these orbs into the purple portal on the ground, as once they get near, the portal will begin to suck them in.
advertisement
Avoid getting too close to the purple orbs, as they will deal damage.
Once three purple orbs have been sucked into the portal, follow the portal as it moves to the first floor of the Tavern, where you'll need to repeat the same steps. Once it's complete, it'll then move up to the balcony on the second floor.
Once you have lured three orbs into each portal, it'll then return to the Tavern Cellar.
When returning to the cellar, interact with the puzzle device and watch as a void opens up and your Bastard Sword is lowered into it.
After a few moments have passed, the Bastard Sword will return, and it'll be upgraded to the Balmung Raven's Shadow Sword.
How to Get the Dark Incantation
advertisement
Now that you have the Balmung Sword make your way to the Dubliette Room, where you'll find a Cave Slide to the left of the Pack-a-Punch machine. Pay the 500 Essence, and you'll begin sliding through a cave that leads to the Town Square.
While in the cave, you'll need to shoot a glowing white Raven, which can be found just before you reach the final turn of the cave; you'll find a white light on the roof, and just below it is the raven sitting on a rock along the right-hand side of the cave.
If you successfully shoot the Raven, you'll witness it fly out of the cave as you exit. If you're quick, you can even shoot it before it flies away, but if you miss the opportunity, you'll then find it flying around the center of the Town Square.
Upon shooting the Raven, watch carefully as it drops a glowing purple item to the ground--it'll leave a glowing purple trail you can follow.
Once you've found the item, pick up the Raven's Talon and head to the Undercroft, which is located next to the Pack-a-Punch room.
Along the western wall of the Undercroft, you'll find a glowing yellow circle. Interact with the circle, and then kill approximately 10 Zombies in the immediate area, which, like all the other Incantations, will see a golden box rise out of the ground.
advertisement
When ready, slash the golden box with the Balmung Sword equipped, and you'll receive the Dark Incantation.
How to Get the Durendal Stag of the Storms Sword
Once you've obtained a Stamp, head to the Dining Hall and interact with the Knight Statue, which features a Stag symbol on its chest.
If you enter from the Entrance Hall, this will be the front left Knight. Upon interacting with the Stag Knight, a Bastard Sword will appear in its hands. Pick up this sword and make your way down to the Dead Shot Daquiri Perk-a-Cola machine in Hilltop, as you'll now need to find and collect three Lightning Rods.
Once you arrive at the Dead Shot Daquiri, you'll find a Lightning Rod leaning against the stack of crates near the corner of the Barn. To pick up the Lightning Rod, simply interact with it.
Now, before you pick up the second Lightning Rod, you'll need to first ensure you have purchased Dead Wire for your weapon from the Arsenal. Once that's purchased, go to the alleyway east of the Speed-Cola Perk-a-Cola machine and look for a small electrical box on the wall beside a window.
advertisement
Shoot the electrical box, and after a moment, a Lightning Rod will fall onto the ground--pick it up.
To obtain the third and final Lightning Rod, head down to the Dungeon or Dubliette Room and kill any Zombie, and it'll drop a Lightning Rod for you to pick up.
With all three Lightning Rods collected, return to the Courtyard and head onto the castle wall. Just to your right, you'll find a small rusted vase along the wall when entering from the side with the Elemental Pop Perk-a-Cola machine. Interact with the vase to place all three lightning rods inside of it. Doing so will trigger a storm to appear in the immediate area.
Equip the Bastard Sword and stand by the vase, defeating zombies as they rush toward you.
While holding the sword, wait by the vase, and you'll eventually be struck by lightning, which will cause your sword to glow with electricity. Now, strike the vase with your sword, and repeat this step twice more.
Upon striking the vase three times, interact with the vase, and you'll be rewarded with the Durendal: Stag of the Storms Wonder Weapon Sword.
advertisement
How to Get the Electric Incantation
Now that you have obtained the Durendal Sword head to the Barn found in Hilltop. Inside, you'll find a horseshoe hanging above the door leading toward the castle.
Using a weapon with the Dead Wire ammo mod, shoot the horseshoe above the door and pick it up once it falls on the floor.
With the horseshoe in hand, travel back to the Cannon on top of the castle wall and interact with it, which will see you climbing inside and then being shot out to land on the roof of the Tavern--this triggers the next step of the Easter Egg.
Back in the Town Square, look around at the sky and locate a small black storm cloud - ours was along the Nature Path.
Once you locate the storm cloud, head beneath it, and you'll find a Pegasus' Horseshoe.
advertisement
Pick up the Pegasus' Horseshoe and return to the Town Square, where a golden circle appears on the ground just to the left of the western gate.
Interact with the glowing circle and kill approximately 10 Zombies in the immediate area, which will cause a golden box to rise out of the ground.
Now, slash the box using the Durendal Sword, and you'll receive the Electric Incantation.
Solve the Tavern Bottle Puzzle and Find All 4 Hidden Pages
Once you've completed all four swords and their incantations, it's time to solve the Tavern bottle puzzle. To get started, make your way to Tavern. Here, you'll need to find and interact with six bottles that have Roman numerals on them. These bottles can be found scattered all around the first and second floors of the building.
Once you've found a bottle, interact with it to reveal a secret symbol. This symbol will appear on the front of the bottle, just below the Roman numeral. It's crucial that you memorize each symbol and its associated number, as you'll need to enter these in order shortly.
Below is the complete list of all six bottle locations in the Tavern.
The symbols on each bottle will differ in each game, as there are a total of 20 possible symbols that can appear.
advertisement
We've included two handy solutions below if you don't feel like taking a screenshot or drawing the symbols with pen and paper. These allow you to check which symbol you obtained for each bottle. They also include a handy numbered map of all symbols that you can share with your team members to make identifying the symbols easier.
You can find the first bottle on the end of the Tavern's bar countertop.
The second bottle is on a neatly dressed rectangular table behind a wooden divider in front of the bar.
The third bottle can be found on a booth-style table next to the bar.
The fourth bottle is on the second floor, on top of a small wall table next to the dart board.
advertisement
The fifth bottle is on the first floor, on top of a booth-style table in front of the bar, behind a wooden divider. It is also opposite bottle II.
The sixth and final bottle is on a circular table in the corner, next to the exit by the Gobblegum machine.
Once you've found and located all six bottles, note all your symbols in the order of their bottle numbers. You can do this by verbally communicating with your team members, using pen and paper (our handy number screenshot above can prove very helpful), or using our handy checklist table below to track which symbols you have obtained.
Symbols | Jar 1 | Jar 2 | Jar 3 | Jar 4 | Jar 5 | Jar 6 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Once you've memorized your symbols, purchase the Melee Macchiato perk and head to the Sitting Room. Here, you'll need to find four hidden pages that can be found around the room and sometimes in adjacent rooms, such as the Alchemical Lab.
It is worth mentioning that the four pages can spawn in multiple locations, so we've listed currently known locations below, based on where we found ours.
advertisement
- Leaning against the armrest of the floral couch in the Sitting Room.
- On a small wooden bench next to the bunk bed in the Sitting Room.
- Leaning against a wall arch near the sitting room's southeast corner.
- A page can be found on the ledge bordering the wall near the entrance of the Alchemical Lab. It's near a wall column and a partially destroyed wall.
- On the side of a stack of wooden crates found along the wall, not too far from the Ammo Buy in the Sitting Rooms.
advertisement
When you've found all four pages, head down into the Undercroft, where you'll find a badly cracked brick wall in the southwest corner.
When meleeing the broken patch on the wall, it'll crumble away to reveal a board of 20 symbols. While it may appear intimidating, there's no time limit here, so you can take as much time as needed to input the symbols.
So, when you're ready, ensure you've equipped a single-shot weapon. Then, shoot the symbol on the wall that matches the symbol on your first bottle. Now, repeat this for all six symbols. If you accidentally shoot the wrong symbol, as they will begin to move, don't worry. You'll simply need to shoot the remaining symbols until you reach six shots, at which point the board will automatically reset.
Once you've successfully input all six symbols in the correct order, the archway next to the puzzle board will open, revealing a book inside. Interact with the book to place the pages we found earlier that each contained a symbol.
Activate the Point of Power Traps
If you look carefully at the book, you'll notice that it now displays four different symbols, each with a unique design. You'll now need to find these symbols around the map in the form of Point of Power Traps, which are found on the ground, glowing red.
advertisement
There's a catch, though, as you'll need to activate and complete the traps in a particular order. This order is as follows:
- First Trap = Top Left Symbol
- Second Trap = Bottom Left Symbol
- Third Trap = Top Right Symbol
- Fourth Trap = Bottom Right Symbol.
Once you've found the correct trap that matches your symbol, activate it for 1,600 Essence, stand within the glowing circle that will appear surrounding the trap, and then kill 10 Zombies, which will complete the trap. Upon killing 10 Zombies, the trap will be complete. Repeat this until you've completed all four traps.
Unfortunately, the Symbols and Traps are randomized for each match.
While the cost to activate the trap isn't too significant, it is important that you only activate the trap when there are 10 Zombies available to kill, as the trap will only be activated for a short while before entering a cooldown period. Should you fail to kill enough Zombies before the trap ends, it'll enter a cooldown period, and you'll be forced to wait several minutes before it's activated again.
If you have successfully completed the trap, the symbol will now be displayed in grey when you view the book in the Undercroft.
Trap locations will always remain the same, but each trap's symbols will differ for each match. There are six traps to find in Citadelle des Morts, which can be found in the following areas:
advertisement
Once you've found and activated all four symbols in their correct order, you'll notice a small red orb will fly out of the trap.
Activate the Knights and Obtain the Mystic Orb
Now, go to the Sitting Rooms and head down the first set of stairs leading to the Undercroft. When heading down the stairs, you'll notice four brightly colored symbols have appeared on the brick wall ahead.
You'll need to note which Roman numeral is next to which symbol, as this will be the order in which you activate each Knight.
Symbol | Order | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
Stag (Electric Incantation) | ||||
Raven (Dark Incantation) | ||||
Lion (Light Incantation) | ||||
Dragon (Fire Incantation) |
For clarity's sake, we received the following order; however, yours will very likely differ:
- Stag = I (1)
- Raven = II (2)
- Lion = III (3)
- Dragon = IV (4)
Once you've noted down your symbol order, head to the Dining Hall. Here, you'll find incantation boxes are now available around the room. When you're ready, pick up the incantation associated with your first symbol and ensure you're equipped with the corresponding Sword.
advertisement
Now, aim and use the incantation on your first assigned Knight. Upon doing so, quickly approach the statue and perform the Weapon Inspect emote--if you're playing on PlayStation, this can be done by pressing and holding Left on the D-Pad. If you're successful, the statue will salute and briefly glow yellow.
Now, repeat this for the remaining three statues.
Upon successfully activating all four Knights, a white beam will shine between them, and a Mystic Orb will appear on the ground--pick it up.
Complete the Elemental Challenges and Charge the Mystic Orb
Now that you have obtained the Mystic Orb, it's time to complete four elemental challenges, which can be found close to where we first completed each Incantation earlier.
advertisement
How to Complete the Light Challenge
The Light challenge can be found on the second floor of the Dining Hall, directly opposite the Vulture Aid machine, where you'll find a small device on the wall. When ready, place the Mystic Orb on the device and start the Elemental Challenge. Now, quickly go down to the first floor, where several green orbs appear around the room.
Run through these orbs as quickly as possible. As you do so, smaller green orbs can be seen flying towards the Mystic Orb we placed in the device on the wall. Upon running through enough green orbs, a red flash will occur, and you'll be free to pick up the charged Mystic Orb.
How to Complete the Dark Challenge
When ready, head down to the Undercroft, ensuring you have the Balmung Sword on hand. In the Undercroft, you'll find another similar device as earlier on the wall, just left of the Dark Incantation box.
Place the Mystic Orb into the device and start the Elemental Challenge. To complete this challenge, equip the Balmung Sword and kill Zombies with void attacks. Void attacks are crucial to succeeding in this challenge, so using the Balmung Sword's special attack or the nearby Dark Incantation attack will be the best and most reliable way to earn void kills.
Once you've killed enough Zombies, you'll be free to pick up the Mystic Orb.
advertisement
How to Complete the Fire Challenge
Now, head out to the Courtyard with the Caliburn Sword in hand, and you'll find another device on the wall, just to the left of the main staircase to reach the castle entrance. This is also in front of the Ammo buy.
When ready, place the Mystic Orb into the device and begin the Elemental Challenge. Like the Dark Challenge, you'll need to kill Zombies until the Mystic Orb is charged; however, this time, you'll need to get Fire kills. The best and most reliable way to earn Fire kills is with either the Caliburn Sword's special attack or Molotovs.
Once you've killed enough Zombies, you'll be free to pick up the Mystic Orb.
How to Complete the Electric Challenge
Lastly, make your way to the Town Square with the Durendal Sword. There, you'll find another device on the wall right of the Electric Incantation box, where the Town Square merges with the Nature Path.
When ready, place the Mystic Orb into the device and begin the Elemental Challenge. Much like the previous challenges, you'll need to kill Zombies to charge the Mystic Orb. However, this time, you'll need to get Electric kills in order for them to count.
The best and most reliable way to earn electric kills is with the Durendal Sword's special attack or with the Electric Incantation.
Once you've killed enough Zombies, you'll be free to pick up the Mystic Orb, which should feature four small glowing orbs flying around the Mystic Orb.
advertisement
Collect the Guardian Key and Prepare for the Boss Fight
Once you've completed all four Elemental Challenges, return to the stairwell leading to the Undercroft, where you first found the four brightly colored symbols on the brick wall. When returning, you'll notice that the symbols have since disappeared, and there's now a device in the center of the Roman numerals where you can place the Mystic Orb.
The wall will slide open after placing the Mystic Orb into the device, revealing a secret room. Inside, interact with the glowing red device on the table, which will activate an Ancient Mystic Recording--don't worry, you're safe in here.
Following the recording, pick up the Guardian Key off the table, as you'll use this key to trigger the final boss encounter.
Before starting the final encounter, it's crucial that you are properly prepared for the boss fight, as it's arguably much more challenging than the final boss encounter on Terminus.
Tips and Recommendations for the Final Boss Fight
Let us be clear: these recommendations may not be for everyone, but if this is your first encounter with the final boss or you need some handy tips to help you whittle down that last bit of health you're struggling with, these tips and recommendations could come in clutch.
- Before entering the final encounter, it's highly recommended that you have a Level 3 Pack-a-Punch Weapon.
- While not crucial, upgrading your weapon rarity to Legendary will significantly increase overall damage.
- Ensure you have purchased Armored Vest upgrades. Having at least two armor plate slots will prove crucial. But, if you can afford the highest upgrade, purchase it.
- There's a good chance you'll go down at some point during the final boss fight, and given the hectic nature of the fight, having a self-revive available could be the difference between failing and succeeding. We've personally died on two occasions while trying to revive teammates.
- These are not negotiable, so make sure you are equipped with the following Perks: Jugger-Nog, Stamin-Up, Speed Cola, and Quick Revive (if you're playing with the group). While not entirely necessary, Deadshot Daiquiri, Elemental Pop, and Vulture Aid can also be useful.
- While it's not make or break, using the PhD Slider and Tribiologist augments, if you have them unlocked, can prove helpful, as they improve your sliding speed and distance and cause an explosion when sliding into enemies.
- The Guardian is essentially a large bullet sponge, so ensure you have at least some Essence spare before entering, as you'll need to purchase plenty of Ammo throughout the fight. There are opportunities to earn Essence during the fight, and an Ammo box is available. In addition, a Max Ammo power-up will spawn at the end of Phase 1 and Phase 2. While saying that, be sure you are well-equipped with ammo before beginning.
- Having one person bring in the Lion Sword can also prove helpful, as it'll restore that player's armor and health when using the special attack.
- Throughout the fight, you'll find Incantation boxes near the center ring of the arena. We recommend utilizing the Light Incantation, as killing Zombies with it will spawn healing orbs that you can use to restore your health. These are available throughout the entire fight, so don't be shy with them.
- As you progress through the phases of the boss fight, the arena will slowly begin to get smaller, and the outer areas will be covered with lava that deals chip damage, should you stand in it.
- Finally, it is highly recommended that you continually move around the boss arena, as it's easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer amount of incoming Zombies that will spawn, and the Guardian's AoE attacks are very large, making them hard to dodge, especially if you're standing still.
How to Defeat the Guardian Boss in Citadelle des Morts
Once you're ready to begin the final boss encounter, make your way to the Town Square and insert the Guardian Key into the base of the large statue at the center of the water fountain. The statue will come alive upon doing so, and you'll be teleported to a secret arena, where you'll need to defeat the Guardian across three phases.

Phase One
Starting in Phase One, you'll first need to break his armor, which you'll find on his shoulders, legs, and forearms. You'll know you're targeting the right area when you receive a blue hit marker.
Eventually, after dealing enough damage to areas, the armor will break away, exposing his skin, which will glow with fire. If you target these areas, you'll begin to deal critical damage indicated by yellow hit markers. The more damage you can deal, the quicker the phase will be over.
You can only effectively damage the Guardian when attacking his front, so don't waste bullets by attacking his back.
Throughout this phase, you'll want to continually move around the arena, as you'll not only have the Guardian targeting you, but standard Zombies will also swarm you, so you'll need to switch your attention between the two. The less standard Zombies roaming around, the easier it will be to navigate the arena.
In addition to the standard Zombies, you'll also need to be very wary of the Guardian's attacks, as he'll perform the following attacks:
- Stomp Attack: During this attack, the Guardian will charge toward you, and as he nears, he'll stop and attempt to stomp you. You'll want to quickly run away, dodging the attack as needed.
- Hammer Slam Attack: During this attack, the Guardian will swing his hammer above his head and then slam it on the ground. As a result, a wave of lava and rubble will come rushing toward you. Side-stepping will be your best bet to avoid this attack, as it travels considerably. This attack will also take out any Zombies in its path, so if it's possible to lure them in the attack's direction, that can be a great way to deal with any swarms you're dealing with. If you get hit by this attack, you'll be pushed backward, typically toward the outer ring of the arena, which is covered in lava. This lava details chip damage, so getting back to safety as quickly as possible will be crucial.

- Lava Ball Attack: During this attack, the Guardian will briefly stop, and his chest will glow yellow as he forms a ball of lava in his mouth. After a moment, he'll launch the lava ball in your direction, so be sure you're moving away as quickly as possible.
Once you've dealt enough damage, the Guardian will stand in the center of the arena, and you'll hear a voice begin speaking. You'll want to use this brief pause in the action to prepare for the next phase by restocking ammo, armor plates, and Incantations.
When the voice stops, a group of Zombies, including standard, Vermin, and Heavy Zombies, will spawn. Take these down quickly and safely; after a few moments, the Guardian will awaken again.
Phase Two
Phase Two is mostly like Phase One, except things are just a little more chaotic, as more Zombies will spawn throughout the arena, including mini-bosses, and the Guardian's attacks appear to be a little faster than before.
Additionally, the Guardian will introduce a brand-new attack, which can prove deadly if you're not paying attention, and an improvement to his Lava Ball attack.
- Jump Attack: During this attack, the Guardian will crouch briefly before launching into the air, jumping on your last known location, which is indicated by a large red circle that appears on the ground. When landing, an AoE explosion will occur, so moving will be critical, as getting stomped could mean game over.

- Lava Ball Attack: Rather than spitting out one lava ball, the Guardian will now spit out three, which will split into a horizontal line.
To get through this phase, unleash as much damage as possible onto the Guardian's glowing weak spots. Once you've dealt enough damage, the Guardian will return to the center of the room, and the voice will return.
As with the last phase, use this small amount of downtime to replenish ammo, armor, and Incantations. After not long, more Zombies will begin spawning in the arena, and the Guardian will rise again for the third and final phase.
Phase Three
Now, not much changes in Phase Three, except for the Guardian's attacks speeding up even more and the general area of the arena being confined to just the two inner rings.
Now's the perfect time to pop the likes of the Shields Up, Free Fire, and Idle Eyes Gobblegums if you have them.
So, simply keep your health high, avoid the Guardian's incoming attacks as much as possible, and try and aim straight for the Guardian's glowing chest, which will deal significant damage.
Once you've managed to defeat the Guardian, he'll explode into pieces, and his Amulet will fly down to the ground. Pick up the glowing Amulet, and you'll enter the final cutscene of the Citadelle des Morts Easter Egg.

During this cutscene, you'll witness Krafft being overcome by Zombies. In his dying words, he informs the group that the Amulet needs to be taken to the Excavation Site--a familiar location for those who have played Black Ops II--but warns everyone to be careful, as the Sentinel Artifact may consume them.
When asked about Richtofen's location, Krafft reveals a secret as he asks the group Tap to Reveal.
Congratulations, you've completed the main Citadelle des Morts Easter Egg.
